Battle for Gilneas is a Cataclysm battleground, today it has been retro-ported and converted into a module for AzerothCore, hence, with this module you can play Battle for Gilneas on WOTLK (3.3.5).
The module version is available as a reward for AzerothCore contributors (all people who have contributed at least once to the project).

As a result, the module contains client-side and server-side code, because of that the player will need to download the client-side patch in order to play it. On the server-side, integrating the BG in your AzerothCore server is very easy since it’s released as a plug-and-play module.

How does the battleground work?

Battle for Gilneas is a 10 vs 10 resource race battleground set in the Ruins of Gilneas, for players level 85 and above.

Much like Arathi Basin, the players must control strategic capture points on the map to accumulate resources. The first team to gather 2000 resources wins.

There are three bases in Battle for Gilneas:

  • Mine
  • Lighthouse
  • Waterworks

Compared to Arathi Basin this battleground has fewer bases, it is smaller but there is more distance between the bases and the players need to get more points to end the battleground.

In order to the lore, the battleground represents an important part of the Alliance-Horde war, the invasion of Gilneas.
This is a battle between the forsaken and the worgen for control of Gilneas.

How does the battleground work?

Twin Peaks is a 10 vs 10 Capture The Flag (CTF) battleground for players at level 85 and above. It consists of a battle between the Wildhammer dwarves and the Dragonmaw orcs, the environment is Twilight Highlands.

In order to the mechanics for Twin Peaks are identical to those for Warsong Gulch, as the followings:

  • a faction wins when they have returned three enemy flags within 25 minutes, or if they have returned the most flags (or capped last in case of a tie) when the timer runs out
  • the longer a flag carrier holds onto a flag, the more damage the player will take.
